Ruth Ellen’s personal illustration plays with and within the idealised space of fashion’s fandom, working from found or ‘borrowed’ snap shots, flash photography and ripping off images from the industry. She questions the idea of desire and ownership, carefully selecting content with the intention of transforming it into work of her own. She creates scenarios that fall somewhere in between parody and pastiche. The result is playful, disturbing, illusory, and arousing. She seeks to find redemption for a world mediated though the message of consumption.

Ruth’s work is timeless and very modern. She creates ink drawings and oil paintings that show a high level of expertise in the medium. Ruth is happy to produce work to commission, wherever you are in the world.
